Meditation and lithotherapie

You are new or experienced in meditation, and you wonder if semi-precious stones could help you in your practice. You are right! A lithotherapy gemstone could help you meditate faster, more intuitively or more deeply. Let's talk about it together to see more clearly.

Meditate yes, but how?

Meditation has undeniable benefits. It helps us to go through our senses and to have a greater attention to our organism as well as to our thoughts and our soul. Before choosing your meditation stone, you should first define some points.

What is the purpose?

First of all, the most important thing is to decide on the objective you wish to reach during this meditation session. Indeed, each session is not the same and you can adapt it according to your needs: why do you want to center yourself?

Here are some examples of meditation topics:

  • Achieve full awareness

  • Feel the sense of fullness

  • Empty the mind of thoughts

  • Do not lose concentration

  • Prepare for sleep...

So, depending on your goal, you could be sitting in a chair, in the lotus position with your legs crossed, or even lying on a bed. Your meditation stone could also be different. In short, it all depends on your goal!

Which mudra to use?

Let's tackle a deeper subject: the mudras! It is the position of the hands during a meditation session. First of all, the most important is the comfort! The position of your hands should be comfortable and should not distract you from your session. Experiment with the different postures that appeal to you and see which one you like best. Our favorites are the corpse position (simply lying down with your hands pointing to the sky) and the Zazen hand position (forming a sun over your lower abdomen). You will also notice that many positions allow you to hold or position stones without disturbing you.

Meditation and lithotherapy: is it compatible?

When we meditate, we can use certain processes from Indian Ayurvedic medicine, including the circulation of energy through its chakras. It is here that lithotherapy can act!

Are the chakras important for meditation?

It is natural to expect the chakras to be the focus of a meditation session. They represent balance and inner strength, and that is exactly what we are looking for when we meditate.

Each chakra has a specific meaning and location:

The root chakra (Muladhara) : Located at the base of the spine, you have an imbalance of this red chakra if you feel fatigue, frustration, emotional instability, low self-esteem, even depression... The stones associated with it are Garnet, Obsidian and Pyrite.

The sacred chakra (Svadisthana) : Located below the navel, you have an imbalance in this orange chakra if you experience chronic fatigue, anxiety, fear, jealousy, distrust and worry. The stones associated with this chakra are Mokaita Jasper, Carnelian and Tiger's Eye.

The solar chakra (Manipura) : Located in the pit of the stomach, you have an imbalance of this yellow chakra if you feel stress, anger, frustration, guilt and many doubts that lead you to a constant need for approval. The stones associated with it are Calcite, Pyrite and Citrine.

The heart chakra (Anahata) : Located in the hollow of the chest, you have an imbalance of this green chakra if you feel passivity in your emotions and in your actions, a chronic depression, numbness and physical or moral suffering. The stones associated with it are Rose Quartz, Aventurine and Jade.

The throat chakra (Vishuda) : Located at the base of the throat, you have an imbalance of this light blue chakra if you experience regular fears and phobias and indecisions that often lead to periods of depression where you are obsessed or blocked by your emotions. The stones associated with it are Amazonite, Aquamarine and Chalcedony.

The frontal chakra (Ajna) : Located between the two eyebrows, you have an imbalance of this dark blue chakra if you often experience major panics and phobias, leading to recurring nightmares and confusion. The stones associated with it are Labradorite, Lapis Lazuli and Sodalite.

The coronal chakra (Sahasrara) : Located above the skull, you have an imbalance of this violet chakra if you feel apathy, worries and a closed mind on what surrounds me or on the divine, which leads you to permanent dissatisfaction. The stones associated with it are Amethyst, Rock Crystal and Moonstone.

How do I align my chakras?

You will understand that each stone can have a positive impact if it is placed on the concerned area. This mediation technique works very well if you lie down and place a rough, polished or bracelet-shaped stone on the area concerned. You can stimulate several chakra areas at the same time, but it is suggested that you go a little at a time to unblock the chakras that are giving you the most trouble. Place the stone on the area(s) and relax for your meditation session: the stones will help you to unlock all your energy!

You can also wear a 7 chakra bracelet on your wrist before you start your meditation so that the stones will work on your whole body, although we prefer the targeted treatment. Check our specific jewelry for each chakra prepared to help you soothe yourself: all stones are real and ethic!

Which stones for meditation?

As we have seen, you can use the stones you need to meditate while taking care of your chakras. But when it comes to pure meditation, other stones are more precise and can help you enter a deeper meditative state.

Citrine is an excellent solar stone for reducing stress accumulated over time. It contributes to general well-being and helps to gain calm. During a meditation session, it will help to calm emotions and excess energy to quickly bring a state of well-being. In order to be more effective, you can place the stone on your solar chakra located towards the stomach. This area, more commonly known as the "solar plexus", is the center of the body and also where the emotions are located. It is an important area in the balance of the body. By placing your citrine on this area, it will balance all these energies to bring you confidence and self-esteem. In meditative practice, it also helps to make the mind clearer and to make you more lucid in your personal reflections.

Amethyst is a particularly versatile stone. It naturally helps to cleanse and purify other stones so it is very often used as a recharging stone. This quality can work well during a meditation session, as it can help cleanse your body and mind of negative intentions. When we talk about negative intentions, this can represent many kinds of energy. It can be your own doing, such as an addiction, a specific disorder or negative thoughts. It can also represent negative energy from your immediate environment or your workplace. During your meditation, amethyst will allow you to accelerate your meditative state and ward off all surrounding negativity. This protective stone will give you strength and protection to help you achieve your meditation goals. You can place it on top of your skull while sitting if it fits (or under a headband to keep it in place) or while lying on your pillow. If this seems complicated, you can also keep it in your left hand or on your solar plexus.

Quartz rose

Rose Quartz is one of the most effective stones in the world of lithotherapy with amethyst. It is a stone that can accompany its owner in all kinds of situations. It softens hard hearts and leads to an opening of the world. Rose quartz offers greater insight and a return to calm and a peaceful mind. During your meditation, this crystal helps to enter a deep meditative state thanks to its virtues bringing serenity and inner peace. You can even take the opportunity to implant an intention in your stone so that it brings you even more after your session. Place it on your heart chakra so that this soft pink gemstone brings you all its soothing virtues. You will notice that it will have a strong impact on your meditation, as it clarifies your thoughts and will even bring you answers to some of your questions.

Lapis Lazuli

Lapis lazuli is a dark blue stone with inclusions of pyrite, which gives it small golden hues from time to time. This stone has always been associated with deep consciousness and can therefore act throughout your meditation to deepen your meditative state. During your session, this stone makes a connection between your mind and your deep consciousness. Lapis lazuli can be considered to help you connect with your deepest self. It brings out qualities that have been buried over time or locked away by events not necessarily of your making. Moreover, if you wish to carry out meditation sessions to connect with your spirituality, use lapis lazuli and you will communicate more easily with the divine which animates you. To help you develop your spiritual side, we advise you to put it at the level of the third eye chakra during your meditation sessions. Thus, it will be easier for you to meditate in lying down position.

Labradorite is a beautiful gray stone with reflections that can be blue, green or even orange. It is used mainly to protect oneself from external negative energies, but also to stay in a positive state of mind. In a meditative practice, it will serve especially to open the third eye chakra to accompany its owner in a spiritual awakening. A bit like lapis lazuli, placing a labradorite on the forehead to open the frontal chakra helps develop intuition and open up to one's deeper self. Through the stimulation of this introspective aspect, you will be able to better know yourself and better understand your goals. This stone is perfect for beginners who have difficulty finding the calm to reach a deep meditative state. It is therefore particularly recommended for letting go and meditative calm.

Azurite is a multicolored stone that can be dark blue, green and brown. It is often used in lithotherapy, but rather unknown to the general public. And yet, it allows many things! First of all, azurite is a stone which allows to clarify the ideas to gain in maturity and in wisdom. It stimulates concentration and allows its owner to focus on the things that matter most, the essential. It is particularly recommended for people who are unable to concentrate during meditation sessions, as it allows them to refocus on the present moment by putting aside everyday problems. No more worries, azurite to free you from those blocking thoughts to allow you to concentrate better. This is why we advise you to place it on the coronal chakra or the third eye to offer you an unparalleled clarity of mind.

How does a meditation session work?

Now let's get down to business! Get ready to experience your first meditation session with the stone you have chosen.

Step 1

First of all, make yourself comfortable in the position you have chosen beforehand. Make sure you are in a quiet place and not disturbed. For a beginner, we recommend that you sit on a couch or bed, lying down with your palms facing the sky. The disconnection with your body will be easier, because you will not use as many muscles as when you are sitting.

Step 2

Once you have found your ideal position, you can start the serious business. Take the stone you have chosen to accompany you during your session. Place it on the chakra you wish to help, on your solar plexus or in your left hand. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth, taking time to connect with your surroundings. Once you feel more present in your space, close your eyes and regulate your breathing until it is more natural, more calm. Little by little, focus on the stone you have chosen. Picture its shape, its color, its energy. Feel all the positive energy it transmits to you. Imagine this energy as a light that penetrates you and goes through each member of your body.

Stage 3

This light sweeps away all negative energy in every part of your body. Feel this powerful energy flowing through you, sweeping away all negative energy, fears and emotional blockages within you. Many people imagine this light permeating every part of their body, much like the water you drink and feel travel through your body. Enjoy this connection with your gem and your body for as long as you need. You can do this kind of exercise for a few minutes or several hours, but the main thing is that you need to develop this inner connection without it disturbing you. Speaking of disturbances, if you feel that you are thinking about something other than your feelings, write down that thought and watch it go away with ease. This will allow you to resume the session without judgment.

You can make your meditation sessions your own, as it has a real impact on you. What we recommend in this article is only a guide to finding your own "recipe" for the ideal meditation session.
